Traffic is one of the important metric that you should always look at and track for your site. Without traffic, there won’t be conversions and there won’t be profit. However, we all know that getting traffic to your site is not an easy task to do.
So, in this post, I decided to share 9 tips that you can use to get traffic, over and over again. Let’s start with the first one.
1. Frequently update your content.
More and more stagnant sites are being banished from the search engines. In order for your site to stay on search engines, update them frequently. Add more fresh, unique content that your visitors will love. If you’re stuck on what to write, browse for a while and find some interesting content to share with your followers (but be sure to link back to that content and add proper citation). Add a date stamp on your page to show when it was last updated.
If you are using WordPress, it is wise to update the version of your WordPress and plugins. Doing so will tell the search engines that your website is well maintained and it deserves to stay in their rankings.
Doing those steps will give you respect from both your visitors and search engines.
2. Employ cross promotional marketing tactic.
If you have an affiliate programs running for people who want to promote your site, ask them to create a review on their site with a link back to your site. You don’t need to link back to them otherwise you’ll be penalized for link exchange practice. You can simply pay them to do it and you’ll have more traffic streams flowing to your site.
If you have a digital product, you can offer it for free to people who want to review it and link back to your site. Doing this will give your site a lot of link juices and credibility in front of the search engines.
3. Give discounts and special offers.
You can get people to sign up to your mailing list by offering them discounts, coupons and special offers. This works well for establishing rapport with them and you can notify them later on via email if you have something of interest to them.
4. Remind them to bookmark your site.
Put a gentle reminder on your site for your visitors to bookmark your site. Simply put the following text “Bookmark or add this site to your favorites.” with a script that allows them to bookmark it once they click that text.
This will put your site on their favorite if they like your content and what you have to offer which will make them more likely to visit your site again in the future.
5. Ask them to recommend your site to a friend.
Word of mouth referral is still the best form of advertising in both offline and online worlds. You can make the word of mouth referral process easy online by putting a link that says “Recommend this site to a friend via email.”
Another way to do this is by using WordPress plugins. There are many WordPress plugins that can integrate and share your site to many social media and email. Just look for one that suit your site best and start using it.
6. Brand your website.
A lot of websites on the internet have no brand. A business without brand has no identity. Make sure you brand your website consistently so that visitors always know that they are on your site.
Use consistent colors, logo, slogans and always put a “Contact Us” link on each page.
7. State your policies clearly.
Every successful online business state their policies clearly. Create one page that clearly defines your philosophy, principles and practices in dealing with your customers.
8. Create an FAQ page.
If you’re selling either a digital or physical products, create an FAQ page which addresses the most common doubt that a potential customer might have. Also, you can use this page to clarify about your product and company. This page can then be bookmarked by your customers for them to refer later on.
Doing this will not only help your customer trust you better but you’ll also spend less time on customer service later on.
9. Use keywords in the titles.
Creating a clear navigational structure and adding proper keywords to your page headline will make it easy for your customer to find their way around in case they lose their bookmarks.
Provide clear organization as well by creating categories and consistently put related items onto that category.
10. Never, EVER spam.
Never spam a customer, who has trusted you by giving their email addresses – EVER. A lot of beginning internet marketers make this mistake and they’ll immediately lose respect and trust from their customer, which was very hard to build on. If people want to opt-out of your mailing list, honor their request and move on.
They can still come back if they like your products in the future, but they won’t come back if you still practice the act of email spamming – flooding their inbox with emails they don’t like to see.
